Support & Food
- At Sugar Hill Overlook on the Kancamagus Highway
- The Kanc Motor Lodge Parking Lot
- The end of the Recreation Trail in Franconia Notch
- Crawford Notch Depot
The check points will be your main support system for the day! Each rider will be required to check in at the station, so that we can make sure everyone is accounted for. Beyond this, there will be two paramedics on duty throughout the day, there will be at least one volunteer on motorcycle, marking turns and riding the route. There will also be a vehicle sweeping the route. If a rider experiences trouble on the road, they are encouraged to make it to the next check point, if possible. If it is not possible, look to flag the sweep vehicle or call the NEP cell phone. The vehicle will be available for transportation in case of emergencies. All support staff and volunteers will be wearing yellow t-shirts.
If, at any point during the ride, you feel you cannot make it the full 100 miles or you decide to alter the route, you MUST check in at one of the four stations. Support staff and volunteers must know where you are at all times. We highly recommend that all participants carry a cell phone.
For safety’s sake, full support will be available until 5:00pm. If there are still riders on the road, a shuttle will make the rounds at 4:30. If you feel you cannot complete the ride unsupported (or you are uncomfortable doing so), you will receive a ride back to the North Conway Grand. If you would like to continue on your own, you are free to do so but full Three Notch Century sanctioned support will end at 5:00 – this includes check point volunteers/supplies, sweep vehicles and medical support. Riders will have until sunset (7:03pm) to complete the ride and finish at the North Conway Grand. If they have not completed the route, they will be transported back to the North Conway Grand by car.
We will also have a limited supply of bike accessories, but please plan to bring everything you might need for the day. Also, please prepare to dress according to the weather forecast up north.
Bagels and coffee will be available for breakfast during registration. Each check point will have water and Gatorade, as well as snacks (including peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hummus, crackers, fruit, granola bars, cookies). You will not go hungry!
If you have specific dietary needs, please let us know ahead of time. Also, if you have specific hydrating beverages or energy snacks that you prefer, please feel free to bring them along and we’ll make sure it gets to each check point.
Post Event Meal/Party:
There will be a post-event party at the North Conway Grand – complete with food, prizes and music! Non-riders may purchase meal tickets at the event for $25 each.
