This is a fully-supported ride. There will be four check points on the route, about every 25 miles or so:
– At Sugar Hill Overlook on the Kancamagus Highway
– The Kancamagus Lodge parking lot in Lincoln
– The end of the Recreation Trail in Franconia Notch
– Crawford Notch Depot
The check points will be your main support system for the day. Each rider will be required to check in at the station, so that we can make sure everyone is accounted for. We also offer on-road support. If a rider experiences trouble on the road, they are encouraged to make it to the next check point, if possible. If it is not possible, look to flag the sweep vehicle or call the provided cell phone number. All support staff and volunteers will be wearing yellow t-shirts.
If, at any point during the ride, you feel you cannot make it the full 100 miles or you decide to alter the route, you MUST check in at one of the four stations. Support staff and volunteers must know where you are at all times. We highly recommend that all participants carry a cell phone.
For safety’s sake, full support will be available until 5:00pm. If there are still riders on the road, a shuttle will make the rounds at 4:30. If you feel you cannot complete the ride unsupported (or you are uncomfortable doing so), you will receive a ride back to the North Conway Grand. If you would like to continue on your own, you are free to do so but full Three Notch Century sanctioned support will end at 5:00 – this includes check point volunteers/supplies and vehicle support. Riders will have until sunset (7:03pm) to complete the ride and finish at the North Conway Grand. If they have not completed the route, they will be transported back to the North Conway Grand by car.
We will also have a limited supply of bike accessories, but please plan to bring everything you might need for the day. Also, please prepare to dress according to the weather forecast up north.
Meals/Food: Bagels and coffee will be available for breakfast during registration. Each check point will have water and Gatorade, as well as snacks (including peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hummus, crackers, fruit, granola bars, cookies). You will not go hungry!
